Your application has been approved — an important milestone. What remains is a short, fixed sequence to obtain your DIMEX card. Choose your track, tick each step as it is done, and nothing will surprise you.
Digital nomad applications follow this sequence, with the insurance requirement stated in your resolution.
Police registration
PrerequisiteThe step that comes before the card. We confirm it is on file.
Health insurance
A policy that covers your whole stay, with at least US$50,000 for illness in Costa Rica.
- Send your insurance certificate and confirmation of payment.
- The policy must cover the entire period of your authorised stay — normally one year.
- It needs at least US$50,000 in coverage for medical expenses arising from illness in Costa Rica.
- Every family member included in the application needs the same coverage.
- We review the documents before your appointment, so nothing is rejected at the counter.
Payments from your resolution
Paid at Banco de Costa Rica, in person and in cash, before the appointment.
DIMEX appointment
We book it with you at an authorised Correos de Costa Rica or Banco de Costa Rica office.
Attend and receive your card
One visit with your documents; the card is produced afterwards.
